Eat your water during your period
If you’re anything like me, when it’s hot outside the last thing I want to do is eat a big, hot meal. Also, I’m horrible at remembering to drink enough water, so by the end of the day I am parched. Watermelon to the rescue!!
Did anyone else grow up in a house where it was normal to put salt on your watermelon? I have always loved that combo, but also enjoy watermelon as-is. Because of my love for salty watermelon, the combo of watermelon and feta in the salad is key. And, if you are not team salted watermelon- I encourage you to give this salad a try anyway, because it is literally summer in a bowl.
I have made a few variations of this salad, so feel free to add other fruits (berries or other melon) or fresh herbs as your heart desires. I like to add cilantro or mint sometimes.
- Watermelon- in chunks, or if you want to be fancy; melon balls
- Cucumber- quartered and sliced. I prefer English
- Red onion- sliced very thin
- Feta cheese
- 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 ½ Tbsp Orange Juice
- ½ - 1 tsp Sugar
Mix dressing in a jar or shaker and adjust to taste. This amount of dressing will work for a small batch of the salad, (1 cucumber and ½ a small watermelon) so if you are making a large batch, double the recipe.

- White Wine
- Eating a giant bowl of this salad on your couch with no bra because it’s too hot
